Data Scientist

The Compellon team is bringing a revolutionary prescriptive analytic platform to market.  Working under Nikolai Liachenko the CSO and inventor of the technology, the Senior Data Scientist will play a lead role in the development and creation of SaaS platform.  This role combines strategic research & development and requirements writing along with hands-on delivery of analytic projects in partnership with the Compellon technical sales team.
This position requires exceptional analytic skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, a technical aptitude, and a willingness to help build and shape the development of products and services. The position reports to the CSO is based in the Company’s headquarters and may require up to 20% travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the translation of the Company’s roadmap into a scalable SaaS platform meeting customer demands.
  • Write epics and stories as part of the agile development process to commercialize analytic SaaS solutions
  • Partner with technical sales to deliver ad-hoc analytic projects
  • Research and develop requirements for scalable further product enhancement, (Visualization, automated data cleaning, and data enrichment)

Required Experience:

  • Master’s degree in a STEM field required (e.g. Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science)
  • 6+ years hands-on professional experience with data mining and predictive modeling
  • 3+ years professional experience analyzing massive TB to PB sized data sets using Hadoop, MapReduce, Pig, HBase, and related tools/technologies
  • 3+ years professional experience using statistical and data mining tools (e.g. R, SAS, SPSS, Matlab) and programming languages (e.g. Java, Python)
  • Proven ability to maintain sharp focus amidst multiple priorities; keen ability to prioritize and manage time/projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to fully yet concisely articulate technical content to non-technical audiences in compelling ways
  • Proven skills to confidently ‘fill in the blanks’ when only 70% of the facts are at hands

Director of Engineering

Compellon is growing and looking for hands-on leadership to help lead us into the future. This is an excellent opportunity to join a disruptive startup in the big data and prescriptive analytics space. This position requires a highly motivated individual to lead a team of front-end (Angular), API (Node/Reactive), and Core Engine engineers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the planning and implementation of highly scalable data and CPU intensive systems
  • Lead and motivate teams and diverse groups of individuals
  • Respond quickly and appropriately in time-sensitive/high-stress situations
  • Work with DevOps to automate all aspects of development and production

Senior Analytics Engineer

You will participate in the full engineering life-cycle, including designing, writing production code, executing code reviews and collaborating with other engineers. This includes some green field projects as well as incremental quality work on the core platform. The ideal candidate is a problem solver, likes math, and loves the challenges of big data.

Responsibilities include:

  • Applying data-mining and machine learning techniques for a variety of business use cases.
  • Designing and prototyping new approaches for handling large structured and unstructured data sets.
  • Coding in Scala, Java, and scripting languages such as Python or Ruby.
  • Conducting design and code reviews.
  • Interfacing with research, product management, and operations teams.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Extensive experience programming in at least one of the following: Java, Scala, Clojure, Haskell, C/C++
  • Knowledge of a scripting language such as Ruby or Python

Platform Engineer

Build and maintain the core scalable platform that powers Compellon’s analytics.

Responsibilities include:

  • Architect, implement, and maintain highly scalable data and cpu intensive systems
  • Automate scaling and management of distributed system to very large compute clusters
  • Integrate with cloud platform providers (EC2, GCE, Azure, etc)

Sales Development Representative

Reports to: Vice President, Marketing and Customer Experience 

Job Purpose:
As a Sales Development Representative (SDR) for Compellon, you will be responsible for developing and qualifying leads and scheduling face-to-face meetings for the sales team. You will maintain a thorough understanding of Compellon’s products and services, as well as industry and customer needs in order to identify appropriate prospects and to quickly establish effective contacts. This is a high-energy position requiring an individual who is extremely motivated, enthusiastic, tenacious, and results-driven. Attention to detail is a must. As an SDR for Compellon, it will be critical for you to conduct business dealings with prospects in a way that creates a superior customer/prospect experience that will set the stage for future product sales for Compellon.



  • High volume prospecting/calling into multiple organizations via cold-calling, networking, e-mail, as well as utilizing internet information sources to build and maintain a lead development pipeline
  • Articulate Compellon’s value proposition to decision-makers across multiple industries to assess buying interest
  • Learn and demonstrate a fundamental understanding of Compellon’s technology – and clearly articulate capabilities and advantages to prospective customers to successfully manage and overcome prospect objections
  • Meet and exceed daily and weekly call goals as well as deliver a high quantity of well-qualified sales opportunities
  • Heavy use of CRM application, including entry and management of all lead data and ensure data integrity ( experience a plus)

Marketing Automation Specialist

Reports to: Vice President, Marketing and Customer Experience 

As a Marketing Automation Specialist, you’ll be responsible for leveraging our marketing automation platform (Pardot) to drive demand for our product and to contribute to a successful sales process. You will manage the systems and tools that support lead generation and prospect/customer engagement.

Our ideal candidate is a process-oriented individual with experience in inbound and outbound marketing techniques. You will create, maintain, and optimize scalable processes that ensure best practices in lead generation and database management. And you will manage: the marketing automation implementation process from start to finish, audience/segmentation, landing page creation, the lead hand-off to sales process, and post-campaign reporting.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • developing and implementing email marketing campaigns that drive lead generation and prospect nurturing
  • defining nurture tracks/drip programs for various personas
  • developing content and innovative email campaigns in Pardot
  • creating various aspects of digital campaigns, including email layout and content, web forms, and landing pages
  • reporting and tracking success of campaigns in Salesforce
  • developing, implementing, maintaining, and documenting marketing automation best practices for Pardot.
  • Creating content for various digital properties (email, blog, website, online campaigns, etc.)
  • And assisting with various other marketing initiatives on an ad-hoc basis


  • 1-2 years of experience in marketing automation, lead generation, marketing database, and CRM management

You’ll be tasked with a variety of responsibilities (outlined below), but the opportunities to learn (about the business, the industry, marketing, and more) are endless. The start-up environment is an exciting and fast-paced one, so we are looking for people who have a lot of energy, are ready to roll up their sleeves, and can get stuff done.
